Pastor Jim Killion is a 1990 graduate of New Life Bible College at New Life Assembly in Marysville, California under the pastorate of David and Joan Hood. After intensive outreach, evangelism and missions work from 1990 – 1996, Pastors Jim and Rhonda Killion pioneered Church On The Rock in April 1997. They came to Woodland with a call and a vision to impact their city for the glory of God. Knowing he was called to pioneer, Pastor Jim, his wife Rhonda and their two sons, Brandon and Seth, started Church On The Rock in their home on Sunday mornings. They started with only their family and two friends. They pioneered this work with no musical ability, no monetary support, no denomination to rely on, just the call and the passion to see souls saved and lives changed by the power of the Gospel. They had 25 people their first service, holding Sunday school for the children in their garage, and using CDs for worship.
By July 1997, the Lord had opened the doors for them to hold night services in the Woodland Lion’s Club on Sundays and Wednesdays. During that 18 month period, they grew to about fifty people. From there they moved to a Cottonwood Plaza store front building in 1999, then to Second Street in July 2001 until August 2009. During that ten year period, Church On The Rock established themselves in the community, laying foundational work by serving, outreaching and ministering to hundreds of people throughout the city.
In September 2009 Church On The Rock moved to a 24,000 square foot facility at 630 Cottonwood Street where the Lord has enabled the church to minister in a much larger capacity. With a sanctuary seating over 500, Church On The Rock is multiplying in numbers and ministries, growing by100 people in the first four months of occupancy. Church On The Rock is impacting Woodland not just by inviting people to a church service, but by going into the city streets and sharing the love of Christ through various venues.
Pastor Jim’s vision is to “Go on a crusade!” and reach the lost for Jesus Christ. With an evangelistic emphasis to reach out into the community, this ministry has had the privilege of praying for thousands of people in the Woodland and surrounding areas and has witnessed changed and healed lives because of the Power of Jesus Christ.
